Working women !!

When we read this , we suddenly have this image of a working woman wearing either saree / kurta pant (if govt or private job) or a skirt/ blazer if it’s MNC. Let’s see what’s an exact image of a working woman. There was an incident recently wherein I was visiting an aged lady whom we know since our childhood and while sipping hot cuppa ginger tea, she suddenly started cribbing about her Househelp (I somehow refrain from using name called MAID), so this discussion went on and she said, “These women I tell you they just come, do 3-4 mere things, go and just ask for money every month.” Next 5-10 minutes I was just sipping tea and I could not gather courage to ask her something which I thought would upset her. But Main to main hu… I asked her first thing.. “ Aunty, are you retired government servant?

A: Yes, I used to work for Government.

Me: wow.. so you have been a working woman then.

A: yes but I worked only for 5-6 years and left as I had to take care of kids and their education.

Me: ok that was a strong decision. So what do you think, what does your house help do when she gets back home?

A: ahh? That’s not my look out but I feel her own house hold chores may be.

Me: so, do you think she’s working more than you, if I compare your overall work when you were working with government?

A: beta , why are you asking me all these questions?

Me: aisehi aunty ! Aap bas bataiye.

A: Mujhe lagta hai, I used to work more!

Me: Did you just listen to your own words? You said I USED TO.

A: so what does that mean ?

Me: Let me explain, do you think your maid owns a washing machine, fridge, microwave or other essential utilities that you own ?

A: no, I don’t think she can afford all those.

Me: That concludes that physically she takes more pain for carrying out all her household chores plus wherever she works , she has that extra work to complete, EVERYDAY !

A: ya, that’s true!

Me: Then what will happen if one day she doesn’t clean a corner of your home, what will happen if she could not clean your spoon properly. (By now, I could see some pain in Aunty’s eyes and it made me stop asking questions.

A: now I understood why all those questions were fired at me. I do feel bad now.

Me: Sorry aunty but it’s not just you , I could see such things at my place too , and we need to understand their pain now. In fact they definitely are underpaid if their amount of work is calculated . So I would just request you to be kind and thankful to them and see how beautifully they will take care of your home and you too.

A: Yes beta, main ye pakka karungi. In fact now I would say they are real Working women, not the ladies like me. I totally salute their hard work.

Me: so cute aunty , this will just spread love around us !

Hence, we are all surrounded by N number of working women, be LOVABLE by loving them, you will always see affection coming from the other side. Comparison just with the educated ones, is old now.
